"We Are the Greatest Poems" - Creating a flourishing country through poetry and care
In conversation with Social Sculptor, Cultural Strategist, and Curator Philippa Pham Hughes, join us for a conversation at Amphibian Stage about identity, community, country, and care through poetry!
One of America’s greatest poets Walt Whitman said, “The United States themselves are essentially the greatest poem.” He believed that poetry and our nation derived their power from their ability to create a unified whole out of disparate parts. Those who’ve descended from Asian immigrants comprise one of those disparate parts. However, the Asian American identity is also made of disparate parts and there is no singular Asian American identity. The Greatest Poem explores this complexity through poetry and film and attempts to find a unified whole that embraces all its disparate parts.
