Ryan Matthieu Smith is a director, designer, producer, and performer working in film, theater, drag, and circus. Indigenous to Texas, Ryan has successfully created for projects throughout the region and far beyond. Ryan is an Artistic Associate with Shakespeare Dallas and a multi-recipient of the Emerging Leaders Award from the Shakespeare Theater Association. Ryan is a Production Designer and Costume Designer for film and television. His favorite projects include the Hurricane Bianca films staring Bianca Del Rio. Ryan proudly serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Board for Shakespeare Dallas. This fall, Ryan will direct an entire BIPOC cast in a bilingual production of Taming of the Shrue for Shakespeare Dallas. As an Indigenous Two-Spirit, Ryan is adamant about bringing his passion home to Texas where he believes visibility and representation are vitally important. Now, more than ever.
