Originally from the Philippines and raised in Manila and Mesquite, Texas, Monalisa Amidar (she/her) is a Dallas-based storyteller and collaborator. She was recently featured as Anna May Wong in City of Dallas' Arts & Culture's "Women & Icons," a visual art and immersive performance exhibit by Kristin Colaneri. Monalisa primarily works as an actor, director, and choreographer whose art is in service of women and children of refugee and immigrant families. She is the founder of Ling Theater, a new independent DFW performing arts company centering Asian American talents and stories. Monalisa values consent-forward, trauma-informed practices and is continuing her training in intimacy direction and cultural sensitivity championing anti-racist creative spaces. She holds an MA in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Texas at Dallas and a BA in Theater from Pepperdine University. Monalisa is represented by the Kim Dawson Agency.
