Kiera Powers (they/them), a Dallas native currently pursuing their BFA undergrad journey at the University of Texas at Arlington, specializes in Theater Arts Design and Technology with a focus on Costume Design. Since their senior year in high school, the theater bug their shaped their artistic path. Alongside their studies, Kiera is deeply involved in advocacy work through the Black Theater Society, a student organization they co-founded at UTA. Their mission aims to advocate, uplift, and educate students of all backgrounds to improve experiences for Black artists. Dedicated to establishing a non-profit introducing the magic of Entertainment Design to youth, Kiera's mission is to enrich the Black experience in entertainment design by advancing education, elevating Black design artistry, and fostering accessibility. They aim to cultivate an inclusive environment where passion drives creativity, challenging stereotypes, and making Black viewers, actors, and artists feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Ultimately, Kiera strives to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable landscape where entertainment design reflects the diverse tapestry of human experience, uplifting marginalized communities worldwide.
