Guangmin Shen

Guangmin Shen, also known as Gua, embarked on his dance journey in 2009, teaching in various dance studios and establishing himself as a professional dancer and choreographer in China. His move to NYC in 2016 marked a new chapter, where he immersed himself in training across diverse styles such as Street Jazz, Contemporary, Breaking, and House. In 2022, Guangmin founded the Umami Playground Dance Company, a testament to his commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive space for movers to explore, experiment, and grow together. Prior to Umami, he served as the choreographer for the Neighbors Dance team, securing multiple competition wins. Additionally, Guangmin entered the battle dance scene in NYC since 2021, achieving his best result at the top 2. Always eager to expand his horizons, Guangmin continuously explores other styles of dance and movement (like Capoeira and Taekwondo), sharing his knowledge and passion with others. He looks forward to connecting with fellow artists at SparkFest dance festival.
